The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana aims to provide monthly financial assistance to economically weaker women and help them become financially independent. The Delhi Government has allocated ₹5,110 crore for this scheme in the 2026–27 budget. The scheme was earlier known as the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, and its name has now been changed to Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. According to the notification issued by the Delhi Government’s Department of Women and Child Development on 6 August 2026, the scheme came into effect from 1 August 2026 and will initially remain in operation for three years. Under this scheme, eligible women will receive ₹2,500 per month. The amount will be transferred to beneficiaries through digital means and savings accounts. The scheme focuses on promoting women’s financial independence, decision-making ability, and self-reliance.

Option 1 ₹1,500 per month will be deposited into an RD (Recurring Deposit) or FD (Fixed Deposit) account. ₹1,000 will be provided through a CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) wallet, which can be used only to purchase essential items approved by the government. Option 2 The beneficiary can choose to have the entire ₹2,500 deposited directly into an RD or FD account.

A woman must fulfill all of the following conditions to be eligible: Age should be between 21 and 60 years. The family’s annual income should be ₹2.5 lakh or less. The woman or her family must have been a resident of Delhi for at least 10 years. Only one woman per family can receive the benefit. Priority will be given to the oldest eligible woman in the family.

Women belonging to the following categories will not be eligible: Women who pay Income Tax. Women who file GST returns. Government employees or women whose family member works in a government department or PSU. Women who are already receiving benefits under another government financial assistance scheme. Families owning a four-wheeler vehicle. Families whose annual electricity consumption exceeds 2,400 units. Families having more than three children. Women with a criminal record.
